Problem of Rubbish Utilization in European Union

There are many problems nowadays in the countries of the European Union. One of the main problems in the contemporary world is the problem of pollution and rubbish utilization. According to the statistic, every year about 23 tons of household rubbish is deposited in the UK`s landfills. This result confirms that UK has the first place in the European Union on the rubbish heap. This result was given by the Local Government Association after researches in 2004-2005. It was terrible result and the Government decided to create and develop the national program with the aim to reduce these results.
During the 2006-2007 the government of the UK created a program which was connected with the landfills collection and recycling programs. As a result of these programs, which were realized by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, biodegradable household wastes were composted and recycled during the 2005-2007 and it showed positive index 27/1-30/7 %. Besides, the amount of rubbish refused from 17 million tons to 16. The Local Government Association confirms that there are also positive results of program realization which refer to the expenses of the government on this sphere. Budget expenses on the rubbish utilization were reduced during the last year. Described problems have also such countries as Irish Republic and Bulgaria. The Governments of these countries also work on the programs of rubbish recycling.
The researchers give also other terrible information about the rubbish problem: in the UK about 109 square miles are covered by the household rubbish and if the tendency will not be changed, in nine years, no area will be available for the dump in the UK.
Such countries as Italy and Spain have also terrible results (from 14 to 17 million of tons). The same problems have France, Germany and Poland.
