Leila El Solh was the first woman in Lebanese history to hold a cabinet position when she was appointed Minister of Industry in 2004. Today, the youngest daughter of the late Lebanese Prime Minister Riad El Solh, is best known for her humanitarian work with the Alwaleed Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation, Lebanon.

The foundation, which is chaired by Saudi Arabia's HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, was set up in 2003 and has in a very short amount of time managed to reach many areas in Lebanon in need of humanitarian support for development projects and to fight poverty. Under El Solh's stewardship the foundation has become a pillar of support for education, health and social organisations throughout Lebanon, and has built an advanced network with other sectors and public entities in the country.
